The company has announced the Talkband B2 successor to the TalkBand B1 that we saw last year and also introduced a really curious N1 earbud hybrid. But the steal of the event seems to be the Huawei Watch. Let’s have a look at more details and see what the new device come with.

Huawei Watch

There’s a lot of talk around the Apple Watch, as the device is said to basically redefine the nascent smartwatch market, but before it launches, the Android Wear army is strengthening their weapons. Huawei thinks its new Watch device can make an impression with its looks, and I think there are already a few victims out there. Its design is what sets it apart, as it is in the shape of a full circle with a 42 mm diameter and we must agree that it looks stylish, indeed.

It comes with true watch elements, such as the crown, frame and lugs. Huawei boasts it’s the world’s first sapphire crystal screen used on a Android wear watch, so there’s indeed great pride on that. The device has a 1.4-inch AMOLED display with a 400×400 screen resolution and a 286 ppi. It is made with cold-forged stainless steal, so this should make it feel really robust. It seems that Huawei wants consumers to see this more as a ‘watch’ than a ‘smartwatch’ as it says there’s a lot of craftsmanship work being done on it. And by the looks of it, they seem to be right. And this is really heating up a good debate – how much of a ‘watch’ you want in a smartwatch? I guess it all depends in the type of consumer that is targeted, but it’s great to see that companies think about traditional values, as well. The Huawei Watch comes in gold, silver or black and has over 40 customizable watch faces to choose from. It comes with a built-in heart rate sensor and features a Health Ecosystem where you will find various apps for it. However, as of now, we don’t know yet its price and availability.

Huawei Talkband B2

Huawei’s Talkband B1 hasn’t actually been a popular presence in the nascent smarwatch market, and now Huawei hopes to improve this with the second-generation TalkBand B2. The device looks better and gets more features, as expected. It is featuring a dust and water resistant metal body along with aa 0.73-inch PMOLED touchscreen display.

It is now packing a 6-axis motion sensor, an accelerating sensor and gyroscope which is making it more accurate. What makes the device special, according to Huawei, is that you can take it out of its strap and stick it in your ear as a Bluetooth headset, which is kind of cool, if you’re looking for that kind of functionality. The original TalkBand B1 only allowed users to track calories and steps, but the B2 will recognize the type of activity, such as walking, running and will now track sleep, as well. The TalkBand 2 also comes with smart audio routing technology, which means you can route audio to a mobile phone or headset based on what you use. The device is made of aluminum alloy metal and has a TPU material strap which is also anti-allergy and described as ‘silk-soft’. All in all, it definitely looks like a better and more serious gadget than the last year’s version. The standard version of the Talkband B2 is available for 169 euros and the and the premium version for 199 euros. They will start shipping around September, with the silver and black versions featuring rubber straps and the gold version a leather option.

Huawei TalkBand N1

The new TalkBand N1 from Huawei is an unusual one, but one that I personally find to be rather interesting. The N1 is basically a set of earbuds that clip together using magnets, as you can see in the pictures. However, they also get activity tracking functionality, which is the main feature that sport lovers look for in fitness trackers or smartwatches, for that matter. So, why pay more money for something that’s also bigger when there’s something as this? The N1 has an accelerometer, is IP54 rated, so it should provide good protection against water and dust. There’s also 4GB of storage on board for music tracks that you can sideload or sync via the app. There is a 67mAh battery which should last for around 3 days, or provide around 5 hours call time. The N1 will be available in gold, metallic grey and pink and will retail for 119 euros when it launches this fall.
