After several leaks and rumors, Huawei finally unveiled the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro flagship smartphones. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro comes with a powerful camera and sets benchmark along with charging technologies.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro features 6.39-inch curved OLED display that supports 1440 x 3120 pixels of resolution and offers 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone comes notch design on top of the display that carries selfie camera, front speaker and sensors. It offers 86.90% screen to body ratio and also offers around 538 PPI density. The phone comes with DCI-P3 and HDR10 features. There are glass panels on both the front and back side along with an aluminum frame.
The Mate 20 Pro powered by Octa-Core CPU under the hood which has three tier design. The first top two Cortex-A76 cores clocks at 2.6 GHz, two medium Cortex-A76 cores clocks at 1.9 GHz and four small Cortex-A55 cores clocks at 1.8 GHz. There is a Mali-G76 MP10 GPU for better graphics experience when playing videos and graphics based games. The phone has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB internal storage. It also has a nano memory card slot on board that supports up to 256 GB external storage.
The phone powered by Huawei’s Kirin 980 chipset inside. The Kirin 980 chipset is the first 7nm chip for Android devices and also the first one to couple with new Cortex-A76 cores. The company said that the new chipset has 6.9 billion transistors which are 60% more than Kirin 970 chip. At the launch event, the company promised that the new Kirin 980 chip will deliver 75% more performance and 58% more improved power efficiency over its predecessor.
The phone runs on Google’s latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box along with EMUI 9.0 UI running on top. The Kirin 980 chipset comes with dual NPU for all AI tasks. It also helps memory optimization for smooth performance.
In terms of camera section, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro comes with triple camera sensors on the back side along with LED flash. There are 40-megapixel Quad Bayer camera sensors with f/1.8 aperture and wide angle lens, 20-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 8-megapixel telephoto camera sensor with f/2.4 aperture and OIS. The rear cameras of the phone come with Super HDR, AR features, macro photography and low-light photography features. On the front side, there is a 24-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calls. The front camera also supports 3D face unlock feature to keep your phone secure.
The Mate 20Pro also comes with a pressure sensitive in display fingerprint scanner. The company said that the fingerprint scanner is 30% faster than the previous one. The phone featured with IP68 waterproofing, it protects your phone for 30 minutes up to 2 meters under water. Huawei Mate 20 Pro packed with Non-removable Li-Po 4200 mAh battery under the hood. The phone is the first phone from the company that comes with new SuperCharge tech. It offers 40W of power and can charge the phone up to 70% in just 30 minutes. The fast charging tech comes with safe certifications from TUV Rheinland. The company also added wireless quick charging feature in Mate 20 Pro. It comes with a 15W wireless quick charging that charge the phone up to 30% in just 30 minutes. The wireless charging feature also supports wireless reverse charging. Which means you can charge your friend’s phones with your Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
The Mate 20 Pro comes with stereo speakers but there is no grille on the bottom edge. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports dual 4G VoLTE and dual band GPS. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro will available in Classic Black, Twilight, Pink Gold, Midnight Blue, and Emerald Green color options.

The phone offers more screen to body ratio than the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, it offers 88.08% screen to body ratio. The phone comes with a water drop notch design on top of the display. The display offers up to 820 nits of brightness, DCI-P3 and HDR10 features. The phone comes with the same sandwich design, glass panels on front and rear along with an aluminum frame.

The company announced Mate 20 two RAM variants, 4 GB and 6 GB. Both the variants have 128 GB internal storage. It has the same nano memory card that supports up to 256 GB external storage. The phone featured with the same triple camera sensors on the back side but different lens size. There are 16-megapixel ultra wide angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and 17 mm lens, 12-megapixel wide angle camera sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 27 nm lens and 8-megapixel telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture and 52mm lens. The phone comes with AI features too.
On the front side, there is a 24-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. It comes with water drop notched which means there is no space for 3D face scanning feature. There is a fingerprint scanner on the back side of the phone. It comes with pre installed Android 9.0 Pie operating system along with EMUI 9.0 running on top. It packed with Non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery which supports 25W fast charging feature. There is no wireless charging feature on Huawei Mate 20. The Mate 20 will available in Midnight Blue, Twilight and Black color options.
Huawei Mate 20 4 GB RAM available at €800 price tag and 6 GB RAM Mate 20 available at €850. The Mate 20 Pro available at €1,050 price tag.
