This change will impact everyone who has a personal Instagram account linked to Plann.

What does this mean for me?

In summary, when using Plann after March 31st with your personal Instagram profile, you’ll find some of your favorite Plann features are limited. The most obvious being your Analytics tabs are no longer active and Plann won’t be able to display your profile photo anymore either. While this update means our Sneaky Peek feature will unfortunately no longer be available to either Business or Personal Accounts, no other changes are permanent.

The short version:

Option 1: Continue with the full Plann experience, including Analytics

You’ll need to have an Instagram Business account connected to a Facebook Business page. You’ll need to use this Facebook page to connect to Plann. The best part is that Instagram will automatically create a Facebook Business page for you, simply connect it to Plann and you’re away!

Option 2: Continue with limited functionality

If you have a personal Instagram profile, we’d highly recommend converting to a business profile to make the most of the Instagram platform. If you choose to stay with a personal profile, the API changes on March 31st will require you to sign in again (Plann won’t be able to send you post notifications until you’ve logged back in), and you’ll find restricted data on your profile. I have a personal account, what does this mean for me?

If you have a personal account connected to Plann after March 31st, you’ll be asked to sign into Plann again with Instagram, however, Instagram will no longer share with you: – No analytics or insights will be available for personal Instagram profiles. – Your Instagram profile image will not be available.

Is there a way around this, I really want this data?

Absolutely! The great news is that Plann can provide full features to everyone who has an Instagram Business profile, who has connected their Facebook Business Page to Plann. When you open Plann, we’ll prompt you in a number of places to connect your Facebook Business Page to make this as easy as possible. You’ll get advanced Instagram analytics, color palette insights, the ability to plan your feed based on your current look, and the ability to reply to comments and mentions right from Plann!

I already have an Instagram Business Profile, am I OK?

What if I don’t want to use, or manage a Facebook Business Page?

We thought about this too, you don’t have to manage your Facebook Page. Once you’ve made the page and connected it to Plann, you can simply unpublish the page and there is no pressure to post from or publish updates. We simply need the authorization from Facebook to deliver you more of the great insights we know you need to grow your account. Here’s how to unpublish a Facebook Page

What are the advantages of having a Business Profile?

The best part of having a business profile is taking the guesswork out of marketing. You’ll be able to: – Discover Advanced Analytics, including historical data, for posts and stories – Uncover your best-performing color palettes and times to post – Respond to comments and mentions you’ve been tagged in – Visually design your grid, based on your existing media PLUS!
